Background of the SAHELIS Productions Firm

Background of the SAHELIS Productions Firm

The SAHELIS Productions was born of the initiative of three friends: Dani Kouyaté, Sékou Traoré and Issa Traoré De Brahima. The idea germinated in 1989 when the three friends were doing their cinema studies in Paris. They co-directed a short film "Bilakoro" signed by an imaginary author "TRAKOUTRA" (which is a combination of their three names) and co-produced by an imaginary Firm "TRAKOUTRA VISIONS".

This nice proof of full complicity gave birth to SAHELIS Productions in 1992 with the support of some other friends and mates film makers, including Lacina Ouédraogo and Abdoulaye Dao as well as a French associate, Claude Gilaizeau, from the "Productions de la Lanterne", in Paris. Since then, SAHELIS Productions produced and co produced six feature films, about 15 short films, about 20 documentary films and the same number of commercial adverts.
